Rynopaks was founded in the fall of 1996 with a simple idea: create a clear backpack in response to rumors that local schools in Tyler, Texas, would require see-through bags. Although the mandate never came to pass, the product sparked something bigger—the beginning of a brand.

What started as a single backpack quickly evolved. Within a year, we expanded into custom athletic bags, and by 1999, Rynopaks had rebranded as Ryno Athletics, broadening our lineup to include athletic accessories as well.

In 2001, a major milestone: we acquired Athletic Bag Company (ABC), a respected custom bag manufacturer established in 1967. ABC was a true pioneer in the custom athletic bag industry, and the acquisition helped Ryno gain national recognition as a trusted bag brand.

Our growth continued with the purchase of Shamrock Sports Bags in 2002, a regional leader in the Southeast, and Amerisport in 2008, a premium custom bag manufacturer based in California. These strategic moves allowed us to expand our reach and refine our product offerings coast to coast.

In 2012, Ryno was acquired by Official Issue, a performance apparel brand known for high-quality uniforms and moisture-management gear for baseball, football, and training markets. This partnership has allowed us to level up our innovation, quality, and customer experience—without losing the craftsmanship and attention to detail that built our reputation.
